about

“I feel like this EP is a direct continuation of my second LP Time Slips Away,” says Chen Moscovici, otherwise known as Moscoman. “I'm continuing my journey back in time, back to my youth, while time slips away.”

Despite being an EP rooted in the potency of tapping back into one’s formative years, this is not a record that is musically looking back. Instead, it harnesses the power of Moscoman’s earlier more club-leaning electronic music and fuses it with a more melodic form of songcraft, to create something that feels distinctly contemporary. “The project was born from a desire I have to produce music that represents my true voice,” he says. “Which is somewhere between the indie pop and electronic/club world.”

The instrumental ‘Dalmar Is Back And It's Final’ is a glorious cascade of bubbling synths and gently clattering beats; “This is a direct reference to my tune titled 'Dalmar Arbon In The Club'.” He says. Dalmar always represented someone who did whatever the hell they wanted. They didn't think about the reasons to make music, they just did. Almost like myself in avatar form. This track felt like the return of this central character.”

It captures Moscoman at a transformative time in his career. While his background from years spent Djing extensively in Tel Aviv and his links to the Israeli nu-wave electronic scene in his adopted home of Berlin can be heard pulsating throughout this EP, he’s also finding himself expanding into wider terrain. “Unlike with a lot of my earlier club music, Moshi Moshi really allowed me to explore how I want to make pop,” he says. “But while retaining a darker, melancholy vibe.”
